This week we studied nonfiction books about different arctic animals. We worked on forming questions of things we wanted to know more about by using questions words like who, what, where, when, why, how, do, could, would, etc. As your reading stories at home with your child encourage them to ask questions about a text. Asking questions is a hard standard so the more practice they get at school and home is very beneficial. We also worked on filling out graphic organizers and turning our key details into sentences. We compared and contrasted how the animals were the same and different.
In math, we have been working on double digit numbers with a focus on our "tricky teen" numbers. We have practiced counting by 10's and finding the number that comes before and after a given number. We continue to work on adding and subtraction number stories. These are fun to have the kids create their own on a white board.
Sight words that have been added to our word wall include: all, this, with, big, make, from, are, they.
Tuesday, January 21st will be day 2.
