With the weather making a change to Fall this week, it was a great week to talk all about apples! Students read the Dr. Seuss book 10 Apples Up On Top, discussed rhyming words, and made a class book with apples up on top of themselves. The rest of the week students focused on non-fiction texts. They read about how the apple tree changes through all 4 seasons and drew illustrations to match each season. We also introduced what the main topic and key details are. These will be terms we continue to work on all year.
In math students continued to use apples to practice adding simple numbers, as well as counting apples up to 20. We are continuing to practice "careful counting" and different ways to make sure we counted all of the objects. This might be by crossing out, organizing piles, or sliding/ tapping as we count.
Letters this week: a, g
Sight words this week: review week
Monday, October 14th will be day 4.
