This week and next we are reading some Halloween favorites! We focused on characters when we read about two witches named Alice and Greta. We did a compare and contrast to find similarities and differences in their personalities and choices. We also talked about describing words when we read about big scary monsters and made a connection to math by creating symmetry monsters. We read about creepy carrots and practiced making connections to the text. We will finish up our Halloween themed work next week by reading non-fictions texts about bats. We will discuss main topic and key details again, and students will have the chance to write about a key detail. Students will also complete a fun guessing game during writing to give clues about who is under the ghost sheet.
In math we practiced writing numbers to 10 and focused on making sure they weren't backwards. Students also played a game trying to find number matches using dot cards.

Important reminders for the Halloween Parade and Parties
- Your child will have the opportunity to wear their costume to the parade. Please send it in their backpack or bag. Do not dress your child in their costume before school. If your child's costume has any weapons, we ask that those stay at home. They will not be able to carry them during the parade. Thank you for understanding!
- If you plan to attend the parade (at 2:15), please go directly to the playground. Parents will not be let into the building prior to the parade. The parade will be moved indoors pending weather.
- Unless you have prior arrangements with your child's teacher, we do not need help getting costumes on. We typically have adult helpers within the building to make this transition easier!
- You are welcome to attend classroom parties at 2:30.
- If you are in charge of sending the snack for the party, be sure it is on the Spartan Safe Snack List.
- No candy of any kind can be passed out at school!
NO SCHOOL on Friday the 25th OR Monday the 28th!
Tuesday the 29th will be day 2
